Eels是一支英伦乐队，要找准他们的位置不太容易，他们跟主流音乐有较大的距离，但是也没有走到另类的群落中（有时候另类只是另一种主流）。虽然两头都不靠，却也并不中庸。说是边缘比较恰当。Eels由三个成员组成，九十年代初年出道时很毛头也很刺头，现在的专辑跟以前出的已经有很大不同，用他们自己的词来说现在是叫Mr Uncle(叔叔)了。
Eels是冷的，但是他们没有被黑暗吞没，也没有像一些别的乐队那样选择战斗和愤怒。不管怎样，任何一种选择是无可厚非的。对Eels来说这是一种年龄的化学变化，最初的蚀骨阴冷虽然还在，而Eels的选择是用有趣来消解颓废和阴冷，这种减法混色使Eels开始边缘的行走。他们没有加入用过就完的快餐面巾纸的享乐中，而保留了自己的思考着怀疑着的脑袋，这很珍贵！而既然要活下去就得活色生香，所以看他们的封面和歌词很多都很有趣。这就是Eels,思想着，有趣着。.
