叛逆的摇滚乐队 Guns N' Roses 以他们坚韧的Punk - Meets - Heavy - Metal 的乐声和坏男孩的姿态在80 年代末赢得了众多的白人男性摇滚乐迷。
　　乐队在1985 年成立于好莱坞。在完成了他们在好莱坞的Gritty Rock 俱乐部的合约后，Guns N' Roses自己出版了一张EP专辑《Live Like Suicide》。这引起了乐评界和唱片厂商极大的兴趣。乐队于 1986 年与 Geffen 公司签约。1987年7月，乐队推出了他们的首张专辑《Appetite For Destruction》。在3首Top10 单曲，“Sweet Child O' Mine”、“Paradise City”和“Welcome To The Jungle”的推动下，这张专辑升至专辑排行榜的榜首并售出2000 万张。1988 年，Geffen出版了Guns N' Roses 的专辑《G N'R Lies》，其中包括的乐队的第一张 EP 中的歌并揉进了新的元素。《G N' R Lies》给乐队带来了更大的成功。当专辑登上排行榜第 2 名时，Guns N' Roses 成为 80 年代唯一一支同时两张专辑在排行榜中名列前 5 名的乐队。1993年，乐队推出了 Punk 风格的专辑《The Spaghetti Incident？》。但是这时，Grunge 已经将重金属摇滚挤出了舞台，Guns N' Roses 一下子显得过时了。《The Spaghetti Incident？》的销量少得可怜，而乐队也在随后的几年中慢慢的解体了。在1998年底，Guns N' Roses 以新得阵容重新回到录音棚着手准备新的专辑。
